L2TP/IPsec needs no additional software: every desktop and mobile operating system ships with a native client. Add a VPN connection in your system settings, enter the server address, the pre-shared key, your username and password, and you are connected.
It is a great fallback when you cannot install apps, on older devices, or on company-managed computers.
