L2TP/IPsec is missing on Android 12 and newer: what to use instead

If you open Settings → Network → VPN on a newer Android phone and cannot find "L2TP/IPSec PSK", you are not doing anything wrong. Android 12 and newer removed L2TP/IPsec (and PPTP) from the built-in VPN settings; only IKEv2 types remain.
What to use instead
- WireGuard (recommended): install the WireGuard app, then scan the QR code from your account page. WireGuard on Android guide

L2TP/IPsec still works on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows and Linux, so you can use it on another device. For your Android phone, create a WireGuard account.
